Visit to NBOS 3, Sepang Agriculture Site

10 Feb 2017Chief Executive of MiDAS, Lt Gen Dato' Suhaimi Bin Hj Mohd Zuki visit to NBOS 3 Sepang Agricultural Site on 10th February 2017.The aim of the visit is to look at the progress of rock melon planting under NBOS 3 programme. This initiative involved strategic collaboration between Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), to be specified MARDI. It is about utilization of MAF idle land with high value agricultural product. The MAF veteran will be given training to cultivate rock melon so that they can used it to generate income once they retired.

MiDAS Dialogue 04/2017

28 February 2017 - MiDAS Dialogue Series 04/2017 titled “Terrorism” was successfully organised by the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) on the 28th February 2017, at MiDAS Auditorium, Ministry of Defence, and Kuala Lumpur. The talk was delivered by Lt Gen Vinod G Khandare, Director General Defence Intelligence Agency (DG DIA) India. He deliberated and gave an insight into terrorism / militancy activities within India and its border. It generated a healthy discussion with participants posing numerous questions that require in-depth and detailed information from the speakers. The visit ended with exchange of memento.

 

Discussion on the establishment of King Salman Centre for International Peace (KSCIP)- Team 3 (Content)

14 March 2017- A discussion on the establishment of King Salman Centre for International Peace (KSCIP) - Team 3 (Content) between MinDef and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) was held at MiDAS. The discussion was chaired by Lt Gen Dato' Suhaimi bin Hj Mohd Zuki, MiDAS Chief Executive. The USIM delegation led by Prof Dato Dr. Musa Ahmad, Vice Chancellor of USIM was also given an insight into MiDAS organisation and its function as a think tank for MinDef. As a token of appreciation Puan Siti Salmiah, CDSRC Senior Officer presented Prof Dato Dr. Musa Ahmad with MiDAS's publication.

The establishment of King Salman Centre International Peace (KSCIP)- 2nd Commitee Meeting

Langkawi, 20 March 2017- A 2nd Meeting for the establishement of King Salman Centre for International Peace (KSCIP) was successfully held at Ombak Villa, Langkawi was jointly chaired by Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Hon. Dato 'Sri Abdul Rahim bin Mohamad Radzi and YB Senator Dato' Dr. Ashraf Wajdi Bin Dato 'Dusuki .The meeting was also attended by Deputy Secretary General (Development),Datuk Zaiton binti Johari;Deputy Secretary General (Management), Dato 'Mohammad Foad bin Hj Abdullah;Deputy Secretary General (Policy), Dato 'Junaidah binti Kamarruddin and Chief Executive Midas, Lt Gen Dato 'Hj Suhaimi Mohd Zuki.

 

 

Briefing on Chinese and North Korean Military Modernization and Islamic State Influence in Southeast Asia

29 March 2017- Midas has been the venue for the brief on Chinese and North Korean Military Modernization and Islamic State Influence in Southeast Asia. It was delivered by Mr. Jon Grevatt from the Asia Pacific Defense Industry Analyst Jane’s Aerospace, Defense and Security. The brief that focus on the trends, development and challenges was organised by Bahagian Operasi Latihan Pertahanan (BOLP). The brief has able to enlighten the new insight as well as keep the participants on the latest update on regional security issues.

27-29 March 2017- Chief Executive of MiDAS, Dato' Suhaimi Bin Hj Mohd Zuki attended The Track II Network of ASEAN Defence and Security Institutions ( NADI) 10th Annual Meeting which was  held at Conrad, Manila, Philippines

04 April 2017 - MiDAS Dialogue Series 05/2017 titled “Counter Terrorism From Pakistan's Perspective” was successfully organised by the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) on the 04th April 2017 at MiDAS Auditorium, Ministry of Defence, Kuala Lumpur. The talk was delivered by Dr. Maria Sultan, President of South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI) University. She deliberated and gave an insight into terrorism / militancy activities within Pakistan and its border. It generated a healthy discussion with participants posing numerous questions that require in-depth and detailed information from the speakers. The talk ended with exchange of memento.

Handing/Taking Over Ceremony TMA Assistant Director

10 April 2017 -  The handing/ taking over ceremony of Traditional Military Affair (TMA) Assistant Director was held at MiDAS on 10 April 2017. The ceremony took place between the outgoing TMA Assistant Director, Col Munraj Singh al Jughtar Singh TUDM who handed over duty to the new Assistant Director Lt Col Suresh A/L K. Vijayaratnam TUDM. The ceremony was attended by MiDAS Chief Executive: Lt Gen Dato' Suhaimi Bin Hj Mohd Zuki , Senior Director of CDSRC: Cik Siti Salmiah Binti Hj Dimyati, MiDAS officers and staff.
