7th Malaysian-German Security Dialogue

Brig Gen Johnny Lim Eng Seng, the Senior Director of Strategy and Civil Affairs participated in the recent 7TH MALAYSIAN-GERMAN SECURITY DIALOGUE on 29-30 Aug 2018 jointly organised by ISIS Malaysia and Konrad –Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). The dialogue, into its 7th series brought together security experts from both countries as well as from Korea and discussed many current security issues. Brig Gen Johnny was the moderator for the 4th Session on the Korean Peninsular and had speakers, Mr Stefan Samse, Dr Geetha Govindasamy and Ms Kim Bomi from the Institute for National Security Strategy in Korea.

6th Sept 2018 - Prof Dr Jurgen Haacke the Associate Professor in International Relations from The London School of Economics and his colleague John Harley Breen visited MiDAS on 6 September 2018 to discuss and exchange views particularly on the South East Asian region. They participated in an informal discussion with the Chief Executive of MiDAS Lt Gen Dato’ Suhaimi Zuki and several MiDAS staff. Also present were Brig Gen Johnny Lim,  Senior Director of the Strategy and Civil Affairs Centre (SCAC) and Capt Rosli bin Abd Ghani, Traditional Military Affair (TMA) Director from Comprehensive Defence and Security Research Centre(CDSRC).

Roundtable Discussion with US Head of Counter Violent Extremism (CVE), Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO)

13th Sept 2018 - A roundtable discussion was held in MiDAS during the visit of Dr. S. Vasu Vaitla, The US Head of Counter Violent Extremism (CVE), Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) and entourage. During the session, The Chief Executive of MiDAS Lt Gen Dato’ Suhaimi Zuki and staff of MiDAS discussed and exchange views with their US counterparts on addressing the current problems of extremism leading to terrorism. Both sides gave constructive ideas and possible approaches based on previous experiences as well as suggested levels of cooperation in dealing with the threats of violent extremism.
