The 4th EU-ASEAN Seminar on Security and Defence was held from 26th until 28th November 2018 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The seminar was co-organised by European Union Security and Defence College (EUSDC) and Indonesia Defence University (IDU). This seminar was held to increase existing and explore new opportunity for cooperation through lesson learned and exchange of views on the security challenges faced. Malaysia delegation was represented by Col Mohd Adzhar bin Abd Latiff, Malaysia Ministry of Defence and Miss Nor Aini binti Mohd Nordin, Malaysia Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS). During this seminar MiDAS was invited as a panellist in the Multinational Response to Security Challenge Session specifically on ASEAN Military Ready Group on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and Malaysia involvement in United Nation Peacekeeping Operation. The seminar has helped the ASEAN member state delegations to understand that the EU is interested in exploring opportunity of cooperation especially in the peacekeeping and maritime security operation. The seminar has also helped the EU delegation to better understand that the ASEAN set up and mechanism is not similar to that of the EU. Overall the seminar has been an eye opening and informative sessions for all delegation.
