PROF. DATO' SRI DR. SYED ARABI BIN SYED ABDULLAH IDID
He has received many academic and state awards and is the author of many books. He is also known for pioneering electoral surveys in Malaysia. Prof. Syed Arabi graduated with a B.A. from University Malaya and a M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Wisconsin. Prof. Syed Arabi worked as a reporter for the national news agency Bernama from 1968 to 1971. He then joined University Kebangsaan Malaysia as a lecturer, later becoming Head of the Department of Communication and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. In 1999, he joined IIUM as Professor in the Department of Communication. He became Dean of the Research Management Centre in July 2001 and was later appointed as Rector of IIUM on 1 June 2006.


DATUK DR MUTHIAH ALAGAPPA
Datuk Dr.Muthiah Alagappa is Distinguished Senior Fellow at the East-West Center.From 2001 to 2007 he was founding director of East-West Center Washington. Prior to that he was director of the integrated research program in East-West Center Honolulu and has been a senior fellow at the East-West Center since 1989. He was Senior Fellow at ISIS Malaysia from 1985 to 1989 and a career officer in the Malaysian Armed Forces from 1962 to 1982. He received an MA in Politics from the University of Lancaster and a Ph.D. in International Affairs from The Fletcher school of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. He held visiting professorships at Columbia University, Stanford University, Keio University, and the Nanyang Tecnological University. He was Leverhulme visiting professor at University of Bristol in the fall of 2008 and will be Howard Kippenberger Chair in Strategic Studies at Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand in fall/winter 2010-11. Datuk Dr Muthiah Alagappa has extensive research experience in Comparative and International Politics of Asia.


TAN SRI DATUK SERI MOHAMED JAWHAR HASSAN
Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohamed Jawhar Hassan is currently Chairman and CEO of ISIS Malaysia. He had served with the government before he joined ISIS Malaysia as Deputy Director-General in May 1990. He was appointed Director-General in March 1997 and was subsequently appointed Chairman and CEO of ISIS Malaysia from 9 January, 2006. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Jawhar is also a Non-Executive Chairman, New Straits Times (Malaysia); an advisory panel to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Distinguished Fellow, Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia, Chairman, Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP), and member to various research organisation. He is also the Expert and Eminent Person, for the purposes of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Register. He is an active member in the nation's economic and security research and holds respected positions such as Co-Chair, Network of East Asia Think-tanks (NEAT) 2005-2006; Chairman, Malaysian National Committee, Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) 2006-2010, and Co-Chair (CSCAP) 2007-2009.


TAN SRI DATO' DR MOHD MUNIR ABDUL MAJID
Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Mohd Munir Abdul Majid is currently the Chairman of Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Muamalat). He received his primary education from St Mark's Butterworth Primary School, Bukit Mertajam High School and Royal Military College. Tan Sri obtained a B.Sc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1971. He also obtained his Ph.D. in International Relations in 1978 from the same school. He also taught at the Department of International Relations in LSE and he is Visiting Senior Fellow. He was research analyst for Daiwa Europe NV in London. Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Mohd Munir is an Honorary Fellow of the London School of Economics and Political Science. Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Munir is President of the LSE Alumni Society of Malaysia. In 2008 he was made a Senior Visiting Fellow at LSE IDEAS (Centre for the Study of International Affairs, Diplomacy and Strategy) where he heads the Southeast Asia International Affairs Programme. Tan Sri Dato' Dr Munir is Adjunct Professor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and member of International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London.


PROF DR HAMZAH BIN AHMAD
Graduated with a Doctorate from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Medford, Boston, USA. BA Hamzah is a very keen student of international politics, International law and security. Currently, with the Department of Strategic Studies at the National Defence University. He has an extensive experience in teaching, research and consultancy. As an academician, he has served Universiti Sains Malaysia, Sultan Idris University of Education (UPSI), Tg Malim and the University of Malaya. In research, he spent ten years at ISIS, Malaysia. He was a Fellow at ISEAS in Singapore and Special Senior Fellow at the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR) at Hiroshima, Japan. He was also Visiting Scholar at the Lauterpacht Research Centre for International Law, Cambridge University. BA Hamzah was the first Head of Strategic and International Studies at the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College. He also founded the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA) and became its first Director General in 1993. He has been a consultant with Petronas and Accenture.


PROF. DATUK DR. ZAKARIA AHMAD
Prof Datuk Dr. Zakaria Ahmad ("Dr Zack") a political scientist by training is Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at the HELP University, Kuala Lumpur. Born in Singapore, Prof Zack received his B.Soc Science (Hons) from the University of Singapore (1970), his MA from McMaster University, Canada (1971), and his PhD in Political Science from MIT, USA (1977). He served in the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Institute of Public Administration before joining Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1977. He headed the Political Science Dept at UKM from 1978 till 1983, and then served ISIS Malaysia as Deputy Director-General till 1986. From 1987-1998, he headed Strategic Studies at UKM, and then was Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities 1999-2000. From 2000-2003, he was the Tun Abdul Razak Distinguished Chair in Southest Asian Studies at Ohio University, USA. Concurrently, Prof Zakaria is also the Distinguished Fellow at the Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College (MAFDC).


PROF. K.S. NATHAN
K.S. Nathan was born and educated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He holds a B.A. Hons. (Class 2 Upper) in History, from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur (l97l); Ph.D. in International Relations from Claremont Graduate University in California, USA(1975); LL.B. Hons(Class 2 Upper) from the University of London(1992), Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) from the Legal Profession Qualifying Board, Malaysia[April 1996], and LL.M. from the University of London [November 1996]. He is also a college-trained teacher (Malaysian Teachers College-Regional Training Centre, Kuala Lumpur), having obtained a Certificate in Education (Cert.Ed.) in 1966. Dr. Nathan was appointed Lecturer in International Relations at the Department of History, University of Malaya, from l975-l983. He was promoted to Associate Professor of International Relations in l984, and with effect from January 1994, Dr. Nathan was promoted to Full Professor. He served as a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) in Singapore from 1st April 2001 until 31st March 2007. From January 2003 until April 2007, he was also the Editor of the ISEAS journal, Contemporary Southeast Asia. Currently he is Deputy Director of the Institute of Occidental Studies (IKON), and also Head of the Centre for American Studies (KAMERA, w.e.f 1 April 2007) in IKON, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi. Most recently (October 2008), he was a Visiting Professor with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation which sponsored his official working visit to the European Union. He is also the current President of the Malaysian Association for American Studies (MAAS), and has served on the Editorial Board of the Australian Journal of International Affairs. He was the Editor of the ISEAS journal Contemporary Southeast Asia from January 2003 until April 2007.


DR CHANDRA MUZAFFAR
Dr. Chandra Muzaffar is both a social activist and an academic. He is the President of the International Movement for a Just World (JUST), an international NGO based in Malaysia. Dr. Chandra Muzaffar is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the 1Malaysia Foundation. He has published extensively on civilizational dialogue, international politics, religion, human rights and Malaysian society. He is also the author and editor of 26 books in English and Malay. Many of his writings have been translated into other languages. In 1977, he founded a multi-ethnic social reform group called Aliran Kesedaran Negara (ALIRAN) which he led for 14 years. Today, apart from his role in JUST, Dr Chandra Muzaffar sits on the board of a number of international NGOs concerned with social justice and civilizational dialogue. Dr Chandra Muzaffar also travels abroad frequently giving lectures and speaking at seminars and conferences. He is also a regular speaker at meetings at home in Malaysia and is the recipient of a number of international awards related to his scholarship and social activism.
