17th March 2023 -Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) headed by Major General Dato' Hj. Ya'cob Bin Hj Samiran, Chief Executive received a courtesy call from Mr. Liu Shiguang, Minister Counsellor (Political), and Ms. Yao Yinghua, First Secretary (Political Section) from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia.
Following the courtesy call to the Chief Executive of MiDAS a discussion headed by Mr Noor Hisham, Senior Director of MiDAS was held with the attendance of Capt. Dr. Tay Yap Leong, Director of Maritime Security, Col Abdullah Thani, Director of Contemporary Security, and two (2) officers from Maritime Security Center, MiDAS. The discussion focussed largely on big power competition, ASEAN, and maritime security in the region as well as possible future think tank interaction.
