19th September 2023 -Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) headed by Major General Dato' Hj. Ya'cob Bin Hj Samiran, Chief Executive received a courtesy call from RADM (Ret.) Yves Postec
Maritime Security Coordinator Enhancing Security Cooperation In and With Asia, European Union (EU). He was accompanied by Mr Timo of the EU Embassy Kuala Lumpur and Col Sylvain Louvet, EU Military Advisor stationed in EU Embassy Jakarta. Following the courtesy call, RADM(Ret.) Postec was invited to sign MiDAS visitor book and presented with a MiDAS publications.
After a group photo was taken and the visit ended with a roundtable discussion with MiDAS officers. The discussion revolved around the current challenges Malaysia faces within the maritime domain ambit, regional maritime challenges and its importance to EU as well as what type of cooperation may be explored with EU within maritime domain. The discussion also touches on EU challenges on the Ukraine - Russia conflict.
