On 24 June 2024, Maj Gen Dong Bin, the Commandant  of China's National Defence University (NDU) of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and his delegation had a courtesy visit to the Malaysia Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS).

The courtesy call took place in the office of Maj Gen Dato' Hj Ya'cob bin Hj Samiran, focusing on discussions regarding ASEAN-Malaysia-China matters.

During the courtesy visit, both military leaders exchange views on regional security issues and opportunities for cooperation within ASEAN. They also exchanged souvenirs as a gesture of goodwill and took pictures to commemorate the occasion.

Such military diplomatic engagement is expected to strengthen the existing ties between China-Malaysia, fostering closer collaboration in defense and security matters. 

On top of that, such interactions play a crucial role in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation within the ASEAN region.

The courtesy visit of Maj Gen Dong Bin and his delegation signifies China's commitment to enhancing relations with Malaysia and its proactive involvement in this part of the world regional affairs.
