KUALA LUMPUR, February 20, 2025 - YBhg. Lt Gen Dato’ Seri Hj Muhammad Huzaimi bin Sabri, Chief Executive of MiDAS, received a courtesy visit from Dr. Abdul Muein bin Abadi, Head of the Defence Studies Program at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) – Armed Forces Defence College, at his office in MiDAS.

This courtesy visit aimed to further strengthen the cordial relationship between the two institutions. Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to engage in discussions and exchange views on research collaborations to be undertaken throughout the year.

Both parties concurred on the need to explore potential joint initiatives in the development of defence and security policies. Furthermore, maritime security issues in the South China Sea were highlighted as a focal point in the development of the national defence industry. Discussions also revolved around contributions that could be enhanced in areas such as research, training, and knowledge exchange. These programs are expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the capabilities and expertise of both institutions.

The discussions and brainstorming session were also attended by MiDAS Director of Maritime Security, Captain Hazlan bin Hazumi TLDM, and UKM Research Assistant, Mr. Aiman bin Roszaimi.

Overall, this engagement has the potential to serve as a platform in strengthening the collaboration between UKM and MiDAS, thus paving the way for future strategic partnerships. Furthermore, the meeting provided an avenue for an exchange of insights and new proposals on regional security and defence policies, particularly in addressing emerging threats.
