26 March 2025 – The Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MiDAS) had the honor of hosting the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Edgard D. Kagan, for a Courtesy Call and the MiDAS Talk 1/2025, themed "U.S.- Malaysia Relationship." The visit, attended by key officials from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Malaysian Armed Forces, provided valuable insights into the evolving defense and security ties between the two nations.

Accompanying the Ambassador were senior U.S. defense and diplomatic officials, including Defense Attaché CAPT Pasit Somboonpakron, Office of Defense Cooperation Chief LTC Jimmy Lax, and Political Officer Neal Turner.

The visit commenced with a Courtesy Call on the Chief Executive of MiDAS, YBhg. Lt Gen Dato' Seri Haji Muhammad Huzaimi bin Sabri, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation. This was followed by MiDAS Talk 1/2025 moderated by CAPT Hazlan bin Hazumi RMN, Director of Maritime Security MiDAS, which saw an engaging discussion on how the U.S. views its relationship with Malaysia under its new administration. The talk was attended by nearly 60 participants from MINDEF and the Malaysian Armed Forces, including the Undersecretary of the Human Resource Management Division of MINDEF.

The event concluded with the signing of the MiDAS Visitor’s Book and an exchange of mementos, symbolizing the enduring partnership between Malaysia and the United States in regional security and defense cooperation.
